Baylor Teen Health Clinic now serving youth in East End!

The Tejano Center Teen Clinic, which is located at 2950 Broadway, Houston, TX 77017, is a comprehensive health care clinic that provides health and social services to community members 13 – 24 years old.

The services provided at the clinic include wellness exams, sports physicals and injuries, immunizations, management and treatment of common acute and chronic illnesses, dietary and nutritional counseling, pregnancy testing and prevention, STD testing and treatment, birth control education and contraceptives, referrals for complex medical problems and referrals for dental, mental, nutritional and social services.

The clinic is staffed with a multidisciplinary team including a sports medicine physician, nurse practitioner, registered/licensed nurse, medical technician and social worker. There will also be a clerk present to assist with Medicaid and Texas Health Women enrollment for those who qualify.

Clinic services are at little to no cost. Individuals will not be turned away for their inability to pay. The clinic is open Monday – Friday, 8am – 4:30pm and will accept walk-ins depending on availability. We believe that healthy motivated individuals become educated responsible adults.

We would love the opportunity to spread awareness among East End community members about the Tejano Center Teen Clinic and leave brochures and flyers in your facility for patrons to take, keep and hopefully call to utilize our medical and social services.

If you have any questions or are interested in allowing our flyers and brochures in your facility, please feel free to call or email Allyssa Abacan, the BTHC Administrative Assistant, at 713-873-3601 and [email protected]

City Opens Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic

City Opens Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic

BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions has opened its in-house, low-cost dog and cat spay/neuter clinic.

As BARC developed the Healthy Pets Healthy Streets targeted spay/neuter program over the last year, it has become clear that Houstonians want to be responsible pet owners. By opening this low-cost spay/neuter clinic, BARC is granting access to this normally high-priced service to Houstonians that may otherwise not be able to afford it.

Pricing for the spay/neuter services will range from $29 to $65 depending on the gender, size and medical condition of the dog or cat. The entire surgery process will only take one day. Pet owners can drop off their pet at around 7:30 a.m. and pick them up between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The clinic is located at 3200 Carr St., 77026.

BARC's goal is to provide these services to thousands of owned pets annually. In addition to spay/neuter services, BARC also has a wellness clinic that offers annual vaccinations and monthly preventatives for pets.

The simplest, but most powerful thing you can do to help BARC, and pets throughout our community, is to talk to your friends, neighbors, and family about caring for pets responsibly. To donate to BARC online or for more information, visit www.houstonbarcfoundation.org.
